Keelung Fishing Port Smart Lamp Post Receives Gold Award with Distinction

"(By Central News Agency reporter Wang Chaoyu, Keelung City, 6th) The Keelung City Government has collaborated with the Industrial Technology Research Institute to install smart lighting lampposts at Changtan Village Fishing Port. These lampposts are not only more energy-efficient but can also identify the entry and exit of fishing vessels, detect PM2.5 data, and have received the Gold Award with Distinction in the outdoor lighting facility category.
The Keelung City Government has collaborated with the Industrial Technology Research Institute to design more comfortable and secure lighting. Through technology-driven smart management and the use of artificial intelligence algorithms for monitoring the entry and exit of fishing vessels, they aim to provide light regulation in the fishing port dock area. This not only enhances lighting quality but also achieves energy-saving goals by providing appropriate and well-timed illumination.
Lin Ching-Hai, Director of the Municipal Industry Development Department, stated that the lighting lampposts at Changtan Village Fishing Port have incorporated smart management features, including streetlight source adjustment, status monitoring, vessel dynamics management, air quality monitoring, and wind variation alerts. This transformation aims to turn traditional fishing village settlements into a more energy-efficient and intelligent lighting environment.
Lin Ching-Hai pointed out that smart lighting involves the installation of intelligent systems and network systems on lampposts. This not only allows for the recognition of fishing vessel movements through artificial intelligence edge computing but also enables the detection of information such as PM2.5, PM10, temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, and atmospheric pressure. This data is regularly transmitted back to the central management system.
Lin Ching-Hai explained that at the top of the lamppost, adjustable LED lights are installed, and the indicator light color changes according to the strength of the wind. It appears blue when the wind is weaker, and turns yellow or orange when the wind is stronger. Additionally, when there is unloading activity by fishermen at the pier or when there is increased vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the Pinglang Bridge, the lighting intensity is automatically adjusted.
The municipal government stated that the smart lighting lampposts have entered the selection for the Lighting Gold Award and received the Special Excellence Award in the outdoor lighting facility category. The organizing committee awarded a certificate and a prize of 30,000 New Taiwan Dollars today. (Editor: Lee Hsi-chang)
